Illamasqua Product Overview – Part 1

by Madame B Fatale on April 22, 2011

I’ve used Illamasqua products in a few tutorials here and there (one coming up too!), but here is a quick run down of a couple of products. This will be part one and the second will be posted in a few weeks!

L to R : Illamasqua Illuminator Halcyon, Illamasqua Lipstick Liv, Illamasqua Lipstick Flare, Illamasqua Cream Pigment Mould, Illamasqua Liquid Metal Stoic.

First up is the lovely illuminator Halcyon, besides the swatch I unfortunately couldn’t get great photo’s of it in action. These come in 7.5ml thin tubes, they may look small but this is one of those products that a small amount really does go a long way. Since I purchased this I have used it every time I’ve done my makeup, the glimmering nude gold shade is a perfect highlight for me and I love it! The texture is creamy, spreads evenly and stays put. I definitely want to try more of these!

Next up is two lipsticks- Live and Flare(NEWISH Toxic Nature Collection), both are creamy long wearing and unbelievably pigmented! Usually when I find a lipstick that is long wearing on me I find that they dry out my lips, but not with these. Even after I take it off my lips still feel soft and supple. I would recommend having your lips in a good condition before you apply as they can show up flaky spots (see below, my lips are not in awesome condition!) when worn without gloss, but this is something I’d recommend with all lipsticks. And as with any orange based lip products they don’t exactly brighten your smile, it actually inspired me to start whitening my teeth so it suits me better! Here they are applied to bare lips.

I would say the top swatches are much more accurate colour wise than the lip swatches. Although I love them both I have to keep a close eye on the Liv lipstick as my sister has mentioned numerous times that its just ‘simply her’ colour. (Umm she’s the older sister, shouldn’t I be ‘borrowing things from her?!?)

Onto the Mould Cream Pigment (NEWISH Toxic Nature Collection) and the Stoic Liquid Metal both swatched above. You know I love a multi purpose product and thisillamasqua stioc, 24 lashes is exactly why I like Mould a little more than Stoic. Don’t get me wrong Stoic is stunning on the eyes but Mould is stunning on both the eye’s and the lips! Both of these formulas tend to crease unless a shadow is applied over the top. The only thing that helps them last a little longer for me is by applying them with a fluffy brush and applying in very thin layers. That being said they are stunning as bases (above right, Illamasqua Lashes in 24 also worn) and Mould works perfectly on the lips as either a solid colour or for lip contouring (below, used as subtle eyeliner as well).Mould Lips and Eyeliner

So that’s it for part 1 , part two coming soon and of course the next tutorial (picture left).
