Winter Beauty – Lipstick

It may be late winter here but if you ask me it’s still pretty chilly and there are a few lip products that I love for the season!

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Honestly this review is beyond overdue, I have been using Too Faced Shadow Insurance (TSFI from now on) for years now and loved it from first use.  Plus I use it before or in almost every makeup tutorial I film and when I wear makeup so its definitely a product I should have blogged about already!

too faced shadow insuranceSo why do I use an eye primer so frequently you may ask. Simple, why spend time on applying and blending those gorgeous colours only to have them fade, rub off or crease after a short time. Many people don’t agree that an eye primer is a necessary product but for me I personally couldn’t imagine not using one now.

To say that TFSI prolongs the life of your eye makeup is an understatement, colours seem to not only last but stick and blend better as well. This can be especially important when using pigments (also if your not using a base, not to be confused with primer btw).

I’ve read about a certain complaint here and there over the years and that is that the product can separate in the tube. Really, so what? I would never apply my foundation before shaking it, a nail polish without rolling it, so why does it matter if I on odd occasions or when the shelf life is coming to an end I have squish the tube around a bit before squeezing out the product.

The hygienic tube packaging is really what sets the TFSI apart from the Benefit and Urban Decay primers. As with all tube packaged products I’d suggest you close the lid as soon as your finished squeezing just so you don’t suck air back into the tube.

For a while I was using Benefits Stay Don’t Stray as I was trailing it for another website. Don’t get me wrong I actually really like it but ultimately I felt like I was wasting the product due to the pump packaging. I’ve also tried some mineral makeup primers, the concealer method and actually Too Faced Second Base (or 1st? Do they even make it anymore? Probably not is was terrible) as well. But nothing seems to compare to the TFSI.

I would also like to mention that I actually haven’t tried Urban Decay’s Primer Potion (shocker, right?!?), as its kind of a pain to get a hold of here and an eye primer is one product I don’t like having to wait for as I use them so often. Also if it ain’t broke, well you know the rest…..

So to sum all that up (this was really long I know) – Ever since I started using the TFSI my eye makeup has lasted up until the moment I wash my face at night, no fading, no creasing actually no issues at all. So would I buy it again, yes and I already have about 5 or 6 times!

That was long, congratulations if you kept reading to this point !

So do you use a primer? If so what’s your favourite?

Yes I have actually bought that many of  TFSI’s over the years, (and its a conservative guess)

Illamasqua Toxic Nature Blogger Event

This post is mainly going to be filled with pretty pictures, but to explain……

IMG_1856Last Friday night I got invited to attend the Brisbane Illamasqua Blogger Event, and gosh I am so glad I went! Not only did we get to watch a fabulous Toxic Nature look demo by Tiarah but we also were given some great tips for using the products. Finally meeting some of the girls I either chat to online or read their blogs was pretty awesome too, (even if I am terribly socially awkward, lol!)

Not only were we surrounded by gorgeous makeup but cupcakes too!

We learnt that Glister eyeliner is great for brides.illamasqua toxci nature demo

Lashes used were the #2 Strip lash that is a long strip of lashes (hence the name) that can be cut up into any desired length, half, full or individual pieces and you should get a minimum of 3 pairs from the strip!

Something else we learnt was that the lash glue that comes with the lashes is latex free, which is a major bonus as many people tend to have an allergy to latex. Also that when waiting for the glue to get tacky it will go darker in colour when its ready to be applied then dries clear.

To set and brighten the face Tiarah used the 105 powder, (also to set the lips).

DIY : Palettes From Leopard Notebooks!

Ok I know I tweeted about this probably last week but I took the photo’s uploaded them, and well I deleted them. (or I can’t find them) So I just took some new ones of the project finished!!!

Here they are

100_8646

The main reason I wanted to do this was to de-palette some of my Estee compacts that I don’t seem to use because I don’t like quads. I also did the 10 pan blush palette and a few other’s I had lying around.

100_8647

This is the shadow palette. These are again Estee ones, a few pigments I pressed and some other random shadows I didn’t seem to use.

100_8648

How I made it

These notebooks I got for $2-3 a while ago and I only bought them because they are leopard. I never used them I just liked looking at them, (yes I’m aware I may have a slight problem).

So I took the paper out, saved it for notes.

Covered the inside with that plastic damask material I have so much of .

Then for the edges, I covered plain straws with the plastic and hot glue gunned them on. I added the pink ribbon to tie it closed.

Because I’m so impatient I didn’t attach the shadows/blushes with magnets but with blu-tack instead!

I literally made these with stuff lying around the house .

Hopefully I’ll use this stuff more often now!

(These are no way near air tight and will definitely not be holding cream shadows.

The Reason I chose the plastic  to cover it with is so I can wipe down and clean it, also so if I spray alcohol onto it it wont disintegrate)

Have you ever made your own palettes??
