Medusa’s Makeup Lip Gloss in Smooch–A Review

Here is another bargain buy from the Medusa brand ( actually everything they make seem to be a bargain!) the lip glosses. I have for review the gloss in Smooch that retails at $8.99 (AUD).medusa lip gloss smooch

Its a stunning rose/mauve with gold shimmer, with a great colour payoff light and non sticky in texture and smells like strawberry candy. Smooch hasn’t dried out my lips and looks great over just a nude lip liner.

Wear wise I would say that its similar many other glosses, I’ve never had a problem with re-applying gloss, and it probably lasts a couple of hours on average (without eating or drinking).

The only downside for some may be the scent but I wouldn’t say that it really lingered too long. Can’t wait to checkout the other colours!

Medusa’s Make Up Waterproof Mascara–Majestic

mascara4The Medusa mascara in Majestic is a fun and easy way to add a pop of colour to your look.
Used on its own for a subtle purple colour or layer over a white lash primer for a really intense look. This will also pump up the volume, so to speak.

The mascara wand itself is a regular sized bushy wand and easily coats all lashes to create an everyday look with a twist. Besides the gorgeous deep purple/plum colour this mascara has the price is awesome at only $8.00 each or $20.00 for three colours (green, purple and blue).mascara1

The only thing that kind of disappointed me was that its waterproof and can be harder to remove. This is a plus as it seriously doesn’t budge but not so great for everyday wear, unless of course this is something that you look for in a mascara.

So if you have been looking for a coloured mascara, or wanting to try one without spending too much money then here is your answer. (Especially if you wanted to try one after the MAC Wonder Woman collection but missed out, wanted something not in a limited edition collection or didn’t want to spend that much!)

Lolita Inspired Look For Fashion Addict

full face 3

I got the opportunity to do a tutorial on any type of look I wanted for Fashion Addict. I chose a Lolita style which is something that I had been wanting to do for a while. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it!

eyes 2full face look down

The products I chose for this look were supplied by Fashion Addict and are as follows:

Exhibit Ultimate Eye Shadow Palette (Bright’s) $19.95

Exhibit Eye lining Pencil (White) $10.95

BYS Smudge proof Waterproof Eyeliner $4.95

Turquoise Glitter False Eyelashes $6.95

Cover Girl Lip Colour (Smoother, Pink Satin) $5.00

I am also wearing BYS Eye Contact Lenses in Purple

I thought I’d add a couple of swatches of the products for you to see.

First up is the eye shadow palette that I’m probably impressed with most. Its full of fun colours that I can see me getting a lot of use out of!

The lighter matte colours are slightly powdery/chalky but I no problem making them work.

The next swatch is of the white eye pencil, liquid liner and lipstick.

Generally I use Duo Adhesive as I find its easier to use than most glues but for the tutorial I used the glue included and I have to say it stuck really well. The texture of the glue was different than what I am used to, kind of stringy and completely clear but it also stuck pretty much immediately where as with duo you have to wait for it to ‘set’.

Finally, the contactsbys-eye-contact-lenses-purple

I’d like to state that  I haven’t worn coloured contacts in a very long time. I was expecting to have a whole lot more trouble getting them in than I did, the first eye they went in almost immediately then the second eye was a tad more difficult but once they were in they were fine. I love how they make my eye’s look.

Now onto the actual tutorial, hope you like it! ( I just re-uploaded it with much better audio)

Illamasqua Product Overview – Part 1

I’ve used Illamasqua products in a few tutorials here and there (one coming up too!), but here is a quick run down of a couple of products. This will be part one and the second will be posted in a few weeks!

illamasqua swatches

L to R : Illamasqua Illuminator Halcyon, Illamasqua Lipstick Liv, Illamasqua Lipstick Flare, Illamasqua Cream Pigment Mould, Illamasqua Liquid Metal Stoic.

First up is the lovely illuminator Halcyon, besides the swatch I unfortunately couldn’t get great photo’s of it in action. These come in 7.5ml thin tubes, they may look small but this is one of those products that a small amount really does go a long way. Since I purchased this I have used it every time I’ve done my makeup, the glimmering nude gold shade is a perfect highlight for me and I love it! The texture is creamy, spreads evenly and stays put. I definitely want to try more of these!

Next up is two lipsticks- Live and Flare(NEWISH Toxic Nature Collection), both are creamy long wearing and unbelievably pigmented! Usually when I find a lipstick that is long wearing on me I find that they dry out my lips, but not with these. Even after I take it off my lips still feel soft and supple. I would recommend having your lips in a good condition before you apply as they can show up flaky spots (see below, my lips are not in awesome condition!) when worn without gloss, but this is something I’d recommend with all lipsticks. And as with any orange based lip products they don’t exactly brighten your smile, it actually inspired me to start whitening my teeth so it suits me better! Here they are applied to bare lips.

flare direct sunlightliv4

I would say the top swatches are much more accurate colour wise than the lip swatches. Although I love them both I have to keep a close eye on the Liv lipstick as my sister has mentioned numerous times that its just ‘simply her’ colour. (Umm she’s the older sister, shouldn’t I be ‘borrowing things from her?!?)

Onto the Mould Cream Pigment (NEWISH Toxic Nature Collection) and the Stoic Liquid Metal both swatched above. You know I love a multi purpose product and thisillamasqua stioc, 24 lashes is exactly why I like Mould a little more than Stoic. Don’t get me wrong Stoic is stunning on the eyes but Mould is stunning on both the eye’s and the lips! Both of these formulas tend to crease unless a shadow is applied over the top. The only thing that helps them last a little longer for me is by applying them with a fluffy brush and applying in very thin layers. That being said they are stunning as bases (above right, Illamasqua Lashes in 24 also worn) and Mould works perfectly on the lips as either a solid colour or for lip contouring (below, used as subtle eyeliner as well).Mould Lips and Eyeliner

So that’s it for part 1 , part two coming soon and of course the next tutorial (picture left).
