Still Kicking a FOTD and Update

I’m not dead, its just taken a lot more than I originally thought to get back into the swing of things. For starters I absolutely hate my new study/ makeup room so that will be changing. So you’ll probably notice my backgrounds change around a bit over the next month or so. There’s also been a few other things that have been taking up my time. But they are pretty boring, so onto something slightly more interesting, yeah!

lashesI just had to try out these Katy Perry Lashes as soon as they arrived. There will be a full review on the four of them once I’ve tried them all but today’s feature a pair in Oh, Honey! They really remind me of Ardell wispies which are one of my favourites for the times you want extra lashes without going completely overboard. I say without going overboard but I was just going grocery shopping so it kind of was already overboard. I get the strangest looks when I do my shopping, I guess the crazy hair doesn’t help but hell I don’t judge those that shop in their pj’s, or do I…

Almost Neon Makeup Tutorial- photo’s, products, tutorial & more!

limecrime makeup tutorial

Back with another super bright almost neon look for you all today! Makeupnet sent me a couple of new Limecrime products (they are the distributors for the brand in Australia now) to play around with and I kind of felt the need to go all out. Partly because I’ve been catching up on RuPaul’s Drag Race (love it!) and partly because I know that Mint to be Lipstick isn’t going to be for everyone. In my mind if you are brave enough to wear this lovely shade on your lips your also probably confident enough to pull off the rest of the look too. Plus I just love bright makeup! But I have to say this is one of those looks that you can take one feature and leave the rest kind of ‘blank’ if you aren’t feeling so daring.

Products-

(Off camera)

Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless Foundation (do not understand why people don’t like this, I love the finish it gives!), Illamasqua Disobey as contour (I use this all the time), Mac Mineralise Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle.

(On Camera)

Limecrime Eyeshadow Helper (awesome! nothing usually compares to TFSI but this does, I like the thicker texture)

Limecrime Magic Eye Dusts in Pink Poodle, Circus Girl, Royal Purple (not telling the name till the comps over!), Nymph and Troubadour.

MAC Paint Stick in Pure White

White eyeliner pencil (not sure which one I picked up, sorry!

Limecrime Mint to be (brows and lips)

Limecrime Loop-de-loop (mainly on outer corners of lips, they are a bit wonky though)

BYS Liquid Liner (such a good buy!)

eBay cheap lashes (top and bottom)

Duo Glue

Now onto the fun part, the video.

In the video I mention that you can win the mystery royal purple shadow, all you have to do is go to Makeupnet and find it in the Limecrime eye shadow section, go back to the video and comment the name of the colour! Its that simple. Australian subscribers only and it ends 19th March 2012. Winners will be selected randomly from the correct answers!

Onto some pictures of the finished look. (I look a little drunk in the eye shot but you can see what’s going on better)

Would you wear this, or any ‘parts’?

Disclosure- Makeupnet sent me some products for the look but I’m not being compensated and I wouldn’t feature them if I didn’t like to wear them myself!

Gradient Brows, Bright Smokey Eye , Coral Lips–Colour Explosion

gradient brows, bright smokey eye, defined lipsLong title, but hey its somewhat descriptive. Trend wise it looks like we are going to see more and more colour on our faces, which if you ask me because I know you totally would, is a step in the right direction. All at once like below, maybe not, but you can easily take one feature and make it work for you!

This is a recreation of a look a posted eon’s, I mean about 5 months ago which can be found by clicking here. (more…)

Christmas a FOTD

neautral glittery eye makeupAs the title suggest this is the makeup I wore on Christmas day. I got ready far too early but I had a full day of cooking so these morning shots will have to do! Yes my hair is different, yet again, I can’t seem to help myself with dyes lying around.

Recently BYS had a pretty awesome competition on their Facebook page and the first 50 to reply got a $50 gift pack, (see I told you it was awesome!). I was one of those lucky people that won and the eye palette I used was one of the items from my pack! The colours are decently pigmented and there was a little fallout so patting them onto your lids over a base works best ( but I’ll do a review so you can see) (more…)

Halloween–Corpse Bride Practice UPDATED

Here is another look I had a stab at, the Corpse Bride from Tim Burtons fabulous The Nightmare Before Christmas. I was actually having a go at this because it will be a friends costume and I’ll be doing the makeup for her. I just wanted to see what works and have a play around with what products I’ll use. Because it’s a rough go I didn’t bother with blocking corspe bride makeupout my eyebrows and didn’t focus on the skin and lines as much as I will on the day.

I really love this as a costume idea.  I am a massive Burton fan to begin but also because no matter what face your pulling you still look sad- thanks to the eyebrows. This is a great (although extreme) example on how much eyebrows actually make a difference to your overall look.

Lolita Inspired Look For Fashion Addict

full face 3

I got the opportunity to do a tutorial on any type of look I wanted for Fashion Addict. I chose a Lolita style which is something that I had been wanting to do for a while. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it!

eyes 2full face look down

The products I chose for this look were supplied by Fashion Addict and are as follows:

Exhibit Ultimate Eye Shadow Palette (Bright’s) $19.95

Exhibit Eye lining Pencil (White) $10.95

BYS Smudge proof Waterproof Eyeliner $4.95

Turquoise Glitter False Eyelashes $6.95

Cover Girl Lip Colour (Smoother, Pink Satin) $5.00

I am also wearing BYS Eye Contact Lenses in Purple

I thought I’d add a couple of swatches of the products for you to see.

First up is the eye shadow palette that I’m probably impressed with most. Its full of fun colours that I can see me getting a lot of use out of!

The lighter matte colours are slightly powdery/chalky but I no problem making them work.

The next swatch is of the white eye pencil, liquid liner and lipstick.

Generally I use Duo Adhesive as I find its easier to use than most glues but for the tutorial I used the glue included and I have to say it stuck really well. The texture of the glue was different than what I am used to, kind of stringy and completely clear but it also stuck pretty much immediately where as with duo you have to wait for it to ‘set’.

Finally, the contactsbys-eye-contact-lenses-purple

I’d like to state that  I haven’t worn coloured contacts in a very long time. I was expecting to have a whole lot more trouble getting them in than I did, the first eye they went in almost immediately then the second eye was a tad more difficult but once they were in they were fine. I love how they make my eye’s look.

Now onto the actual tutorial, hope you like it! ( I just re-uploaded it with much better audio)

Products were sent to me specifically for this look/video.

Remington for NYFW Luca Luca SS11

I have to say I’m loving the textured do’s we are seeing more and more of lately and this look certainly didn’t disappoint!

The Look:

“The carefree style also translated into what Raul describes as ‘easy, pretty hair’ – that of a girl who’s been lounging on her private yacht all day and has come to shore for a fabulous dinner – a perfect match for his SS11 collection.”

How to create:

“Backstage at the Luca Luca show, Remington stylist Teddy Charles shows that the look is all about layering curls. First a soft wave was added to the hair by blowdrying (at home use Remington Salon 5000 RRP $83.95) with a barrel brush, before centre-parting and crimping (Remington Crimptini RRP $22.95) all over. Sections were then curled using a conical tong (Remington Tribal Tong RRP $53.95) and each side tightly styled into a French roll from above the temple. Each side was then curled across each other into a tight bun, making a soft, feminine and effortlessly chic look.”

Watch the video below to see the final look, hear about the inspiration behind the collection and see some backstage footage.
