Gillette introduces a new razor and I got to introduce the boyfriend into my world….
You would be safe to assume that since I’m so beauty/hair/product obsessed that my boyfriend would be also into the whole male grooming practices, but to be honest this couldn’t be further from the truth. He rarely shaves (hair growth is super slow) and before getting these products he had no idea what an exfoliator was. Now I’ve tried to get him into the whole cleanse, exfoliate, moisturise routine for what seems like forever. I’ve bought him products and they have literally been sitting in a draw piling up and never been able to convince him to actually use them. His routine is wash face with water maybe some soap if he’s feeling fancy (LOL), shave if needed with some sort of shaving cream he puts no thought into buying and finished off with deodorant and perfume/manfume (which is generally purchased by me)….
Enter Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor, Shave Cream, Thermal Face Scrub and Cooling Balm. I bet your wondering how I convinced him to start using them right ?!? (Just so you know I’m shaking my head as I type this.) In the pack that was sent to us (for review purposes) there was also a USB filled with press release stuff and product images, he grabbed it immediately. So I just informed him the only way he was going to keep it was by using the products and he has been, simple as that.
Now, before he used anything I gave him a few things to think about while using them so when I asked him how it all went I got more than a blank stare. So what did he think….
- Thermal Face Scrub (RRP $12.99)– “Feels gritty and made my face kind of red.” I of course had to explain what a scrub was after this, I would like to state that his face wasn’t ‘red’ for long and I’m fairly certain its due to the fact he has never used anything like this so his skin was like WTF for a moment or two. To make sure I used it on myself and I really liked the texture (I’m a fan of the gritty scrubs that you can really FEEL working), after washing off my skin feels pretty good. The only thing that bothered me (not him) was the scent, anyone else noticed that men’s products are always highly scented?
- Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power (RRP $16.99) – “No cuts. AT. ALL! Glided over my face with ease wasn’t the closest ever shave but was fairly impressive.” I honestly don’t know what to add to this statement of his other than I learnt that to him not cutting your face while shaving is somewhat of an extraordinary occasion !?!
- Cooling Balm (RRP $11.99)– “Its getting really COLD?!?” said with a somewhat confused look in his face. I know its winter so its probably not the best time of year to be trying a cooling balm first thing in the morning but it does really seem to do its job and hey, cooling is the first word in the products name, what did he expect…. So intrigued by this statement I tried it a few times and yes it does get cold, I imagine it would be lovely in Summer.
After all that I asked him whether its something he’s likely to keep up, he replied with a quick “Yes” (WIN!) followed by “You really can tell the difference between an el cheapo razor and this can’t you” (Double Win!). So all in all I think this was a fairly positive experience, now I know if I ever want him to use new products all I have to do is add a USB in there and bam he’ll do it. Plus he’s learnt something new and has a product I might actually ‘borrow’ every now and then beside his stash of blue hair dye.

This is an awesome experience to share.
I'm glad that the USB drew him in, but it sounds like he actually enjoyed the experience. Perhaps there's still hope to expand his potential inner product junkie? LOL
Hopefully! I said to him this morning how I quite liked the scrub and he was all "what your going to steal my products now, don't you have enough?!?" LOL!!!
